ECTS: 6 credits
Status: Compulsory
Semester: 3
Hours: 30/18 (lectures/exercises)
Objectives
The course aims to provide students with methodological and quantitative tools for the analysis, assessment and management of risk, with particular attention to the resilience of complex systems and territorial contexts.
Specific aims include:
- introducing the fundamental concepts of risk, hazard, vulnerability, exposure, resilience and uncertainty;
- providing basic probabilistic methods for quantitative risk assessment;
- developing the ability to identify and analyse hazardous events and their potential consequences;
- introducing methods for evaluating the likelihood and impact of adverse events;
- providing tools for risk evaluation, prevention, mitigation and management;
- supporting decision-making under uncertainty and the identification of appropriate risk-reduction strategies;
- developing an understanding of how risk-management approaches can contribute to the resilience of complex systems and territories.
